Youngest of 4, son of Dr. Pierre and Shirley d'Estrube, I was born in 1958 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where I have resided most of my life. My interest in drawing goes as far back as I can remember. My mother and father both have artist’s blood very close in the family tree, and in fact it may be my sister, Nicky, who, through simple sibling rivalry, may have provided me the inspiration because she was quite good herself.

From late 1977 to early 1983 I lived in the Twin City area of Minnesota, attending 2 art colleges while working at “The Wright Company”, a fascinating little company founded by my uncle, Ted Wright, that produces magnetic printing cylinders and other magnetic devices (today that same company is probably fifteen times the size it was!).

In early 1983 I returned to Victoria to marry Catherine Moffat, an extremely accomplished painter who has gone on to become a very well established artist in the region. We had met in Victoria during a previous Christmas visit. We married in 1984, enjoyed 9 years together but decided to separate in 1993.

As far back as 1984 I have held a number of design/production positions in Victoria with various firms before venturing out on my own as “Alter Ego Graphics” in 1991. I operated this design/illustration business through the nineties while also working as a pre-press artist at Alston Digital Imaging in Victoria from ‘96 through ’99.

In an effort to become involved in a more robust business environment, I moved to bustling Redmond Washington in 1999 where I presently work at an expanding company which provides me with many design and illustration challenges - everything from package design to catalogs, journals, and computer cutaway illustrations.

It is my intention to stay connected to the art field, both commercial design and fine art, and my goal to follow up “The Megalite Project” with numerous paintings - some possibly computer-generated - each more elaborate and enthralling than the previous. Just don't ask me for a release schedule!
